Playground of the Day – Mead Park

New Canaan has a wonderful spot for small children – Mead Park.  There is a fenced a toddler play area as well as a more advanced playground, swings, and picnic benches.  Additionally, there are several fields, over a half dozen tennis courts, and a lovely duck pond.  To top it all off, there is a snack bar that offers an impressive variety of food that is quite yummy, tables with umbrellas, and clean restrooms.

I believe the tennis courts require a town permit to be used but the park seems to otherwise be open to the public for everyone to enjoy.  You are also walking distance from the center of town.

Enjoy!

The First Step

Connecting in a new town makes all the difference.  Finding friends, for parent and child, makes life much more pleasant.  Good ways to do this are through moms groups – some local hospitals, pediatricians, and towns have active moms groups. There are also groups you can find online in your specific area.  Other ways to connect are through a place of worship, your child’s school, and by just starting up conversations at your local playground.

My Story

Over the past several weeks I have felt like a cruise director trying to keep my young children happy while also exposing them to new things that will keep them thinking.  This has been extra challenging since our family moved this summer to a new place – Fairfield County, CT.  In efforts to learn what to do with my gang, I have been talking to just about anyone who will talk to me.  What I learn I plan to post here along with activities and ideas I have along the way.
